A few quick notes and interesting gotchas:
- If you have AutoCAD MEP 2011 open and then open AutoCAD MEP 2012, you lose your parallel pipe / parallel conduit buttons in AutoCAD MEP 2012. If you close out of both and only launch AutoCAD MEP 2012, the tools re-appear
- Plain AutoCAD has a command on the “Plug-ins” ribbon tab to open a 3D model in Inventor Fusion. You can edit the model in Fusion and then bring the changes back into AutoCAD. Pretty cool!
But…
- If you are running AutoCAD Architecture or AutoCAD MEP – even the AutoCAD profile for ACA or AMEP – this command does not exist. Not on the Ribbon, and not if you type the command “EditInFusion”
- The AutoCAD “Plug-ins” ribbon also has a command to open the Content Explorer… the AutoCAD profile of ACA and AMEP do not have this same command, but as opposed to the Fusion issue above, you can type in the command “ContentExplorer” on the command line and bring up the plain AutoCAD content explorer. This means you can also make a ribbon button for the command too.
Does anyone have any other interesting “gotchas” that they want to share? Post them in the comments section below!
Happy CADDing!
