In the 2009 release of AutoCAD, Autodesk introduced the Quick Properties palette for drawing objects. This palette is a popup activated by selecting a drawing object. The palette visibility can be controlled by the QP button on the status line.
With the 2010 release of AutoCAD Civil 3D, the Quick Properties palette is now responsive to Civil 3D objects as well as AutoCAD drawing objects. Here's a structure with a label.
When we select it, here's what we get from the Quick Properties palette.
You can see several of the properties of the structure. If we right click on the border of the palette, and select the Customize option, we get the CUI dialog.
You can see that we can select a number of properties to display for the structure object. Not all of these properties can be changed within the palette, but several of them can, and this is where the Quick in the Quick Properties becomes evident. For example, you can select a structure and change the Name property of the structure in the Quick Properties; a real time saver when you have to edit the structure labels.

I like quick properties, but it seems that whenever I need to do any grip editing, the palette is always in the way. Is there any kind of variable to make it pop up further away from my cursor?
