Today’s software and hardware technology are all focusing on the 3D environment. Everywhere we look we see 3D movies, to 3D TVs, and even 3D rapid printing prototyping, so why not turn your flat pictures into a 3D Image that you can rotate and even get a 3D model. In the past it was only in our imagination that you would be able to take images of people, places and things to try to get a 3D Model, but now with Autodesk 123D Catch you can do exactly that!
Formerly Project Photofly, Autodesk 123D Catch – Turn ordinary photos into extraordinary 3D Models with Autodesk 123D Catch. Take photos of your favorite people, places and things and let the power of the cloud magically transform them into detailed 3D models.
In this blog I will give you a quick demo on how to work with Autodesk’s 123D Catch
First go to the Autodesk 123D Catch Website to download and install the Beta software:

Once downloaded and installed launch the program. Once the program is launched you will get a screen that looks like the image below. Click on Create a new Photo Scene to add your photos.
Select the photos to upload to the Autodesk Cloud Servers:
(in honor of the Formula 1 Season starting back up i have decided to create a 3D model of my 1:43 Michael Schumacher F1 Diecast)
Next click on Compute Photo Scene to upload the files
Enter your Name and Email Address and click OK
On the Create Photo Scene screen enter your Email and Photo Scene Name
This will start the Processing to Upload the pictures to the Cloud Servers
Next it will use the power of the Cloud and create and attach your pictures together to give you a 3D Model
In under 5 minutes i was able to upload, process around 50 pictures from my iphone and the result well you can see below a 3D Model of my 1:43 diecast
I can now rotate the model around, add extra images, manual stitch extra pictures together, and even export an animation to a video format.
