The technology preview for Feature Recognition for Inventor 2013 expired on April 1, 2013 but you can now get a copy on Autodesk Exchange Apps.
Feature Recognition will help you convert neutral 3D CAD models like STEP, SAT, or IGES solids into models with native Inventor features.It's available as a free app for subscription customers only:
Feature Recognition for InventorOnce signed in install the App, click on the Free button:
Install the Feature Recognition Enabler:
Once installed the Feature Recognition Add-In will automatically load.
When you open one a neutral file format you should see this message:
If you select Yes, you'll see the Feature Recognition ribbon:
If you choose Automatic Feature Recognition, you'll get this dialog box. Select all the features you'd like to automatically recognize and select OK.
You can also recognize features manually by choosing the different features in the Ribbon, Revolve, Extrude, Hole etc.
When you're done recognizing features, select Finish Feature Recognition. It'll confirm the creation of the features and add them to to the model.
If you had said No earlier to 'Do you want to recognize features?' or you need to continue recognizing features that are in the Base solid, you can still access Feature recognition in the shortcut menu on a Base Solid:

You can get Feature Recognition at the Autodesk Exchange Apps if your product is on Subscription only:

Click on 'Subscription App' to log with your Autodesk account log in.
The Add-In works for Inventor 2013-2014-2015.
