There are new styles for how you can tell the software to fill out your Panel Schedules in 2016. In 2015 and before, circuits were only assigned sequentially. If you wanted something different, it involved a little more manual intervention; assigning spaces, spares, etc. Below is the General section for Electrical Settings.
I will provide an example of each option in turn to show how they affect the Panel Schedules.
I will create the circuits in the exact same order in all cases. The numbers represent the order circuited, not necessarily the actual circuit numbers. See the diagram below.
The first is the default. As the panel is filled in, it will jump from left to right, left to right provided you utilize the default electrical panel schedule. Below is the result for Numerical.
Below is the result with Group by Phase.
Below is the result using Odd then Even. I know many Electrical designers who are foaming at the mouth for this setting. The previous rigidity of the 2015 settings flew in the face of their office standard. It required some locking and shuffling of circuits after they had been added to the panel.
Warning: Utilizing the Rebalance Loads Tool may rearrange your circuits when utilizing any of the three Electrical Settings previously discussed. Circuits may shift depending on the voltage that is on each circuit and possibly the panel setup. The difference is the most notable when utilizing the Odd then Even approach.
