Welcome back for Part 2 of this 4-part post on RTC 2016 NA and the IMAGINiT Speakers, and their sessions. Before we learn about our first session a quick recap of how to get to RTC NA and where and when it is.
This year RTC 2016 NA is on July 14th – 16th and will be held at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale Arizona. If you still haven’t got approval to go just head over to this blog post from the RTC Blog for all the info you will need: “Need Help Gaining Approval to Attend RTC?”
Now for our main attraction of this post our first IMAGINiT RTC Session info:
I will begin with a Lab session about Dynamo on Saturday morning
- Session: 3.2
- Date: Saturday, July 16th
- Time: 10:45am – 12:00 pm
- Class Length: 75 Minutes
- Class Type: Hands-on Lab
- Instructor: Carl Storms – Senior Applications Expert, IMAGINiT Technologies (yup it’s me!)
- Topic: Dynamo – Everyone’s doing it
- Class Summary: This Lab is NOT for people that are heavy Dynamo users
This Lab IS for the people that aren’t programmers (visual or other) but from time to time may need to use Dynamo as part of their workflow. It’s also for people that have heard of Dynamo or visual programming but never thought it was something they could do (but it totally is!). It’s also for those that just don’t think Dynamo can help them in their everyday workflow (don’t be so sure).
By the end of this session you will have an introductory understanding of what Dynamo is. You will also learn that Dynamo can be used to create geometry with parametric relationships, and that this geometry can then be pushed into a Revit project or family using the Revit database.
And that’s not all!
You will learn that it’s not just geometry Dynamo can do. It can also help with everyday tasks like creating grids and levels, add some trees to your site, preform an energy analysis, or even change your text from sentence case to ALL CAPS. The list goes on and on…
But wait there’s more!
Dynamo is open source, FREE, and works on more than just Revit!
Everyone is doing it; you know you want to do it to!!
Next week we talk Revit Add-ons and learn about Tim Grimm’s Session
Also don’t forget to come visit us at the IMAGINiT booth #10 in the exhibition hall.
