Two additional Autodesk Official Training Guides (Autodesk Inventor 2014 Advanced Part Modeling and Autodesk Inventor 2014 Advanced Assembly Modeling) are now available.
In my previous post I discussed what was new in the Autodesk Inventor Introduction to Solid Modeling, Autodesk Inventor iLogic, and Autodesk Inventor Sheet Metal Design training guides. The format for this post will be the same. Instead of getting into what functionality is new in the software, I want to focus on what has changed in these, the two latest training guides. The aim is to help those instructors that use our content get ready for their 2014 classes. The following is a summary of the major changes.
Autodesk Inventor 2014 Advanced Part Modeling
- Throughout each chapter in the training guide, multiple choice questions have been added as Chapter Review questions. This aligns the question types with those that are available in all other Autodesk Inventor titles.
- Right-click menu options have been updated, where applicable, to reflect the button images that are available on the marking menu. In previous releases, the use of buttons or text commands was not consistent.
- In Chapter 13, the Attaching Point Cloud Data section was updated to reflect the new workflow that incorporates the use of the Autodesk® ReCap software for indexing the point cloud data.
- In addition to these, small wording changes were made throughout.
Autodesk Inventor 2014 Advanced Assembly Modeling
- With the introduction of Joints in 2014, all component connection types (joints and constraints) are now classified as relationships. All Model browser images and wording have been updated to reflect this.
- The use of Free Move and Free Rotate to change component positions in an assembly is now explained in Chapter 5, as opposed to the 2013 method.
- New Model Simplification material has been added as Chapter 9. This chapter contains the Shrinkwrap content (pulled from the Level of Detail chapter) as well as the new tools available in the Simplify tab. The Shrinkwrap functionality exercise uses the mechanical pencil assembly and a new model and exercise has been added to practice the model simplification tools.
- Similar to the Advanced Part Modeling training guide, button images that are available on the marking menu have been incorporated and small wording changes were made throughout.
For those of you that refer to the and
icons to locate new functionality, these icons have also been incorporated in these training guides. Additionally, all images have been updated to reflect the Autodesk Inventor software’s new Application Menu branding.
As I have mentioned before (and will mention again), ASCENT welcomes any comments you might have regarding these or any of our training guides. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments (education@ASCENTed.com).
If you aren’t aware, ASCENT publishes a roadmap with their estimated release dates. Please visit www.ascented.com (under Featured Items) for the latest roadmap.
