ASCENT has released the three Autodesk Vault 2015 Essentials training guides: Autodesk Vault Basic 2015 Essentials, Autodesk Vault Workgroup 2015 Essentials, and Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 Essentials. The significant updates to the training guides as compared to the 2014 versions are listed below.
1 – File Status Enhancements
The enhancements to the Autodesk Vault 2015 software regarding Autodesk Vault’s file status are documented in the Autodesk Vault Basic 2015 Essentials training guide. The new Vault Status Modifier in the Vault Browser is toggled on in one of the exercises to view the updated Vault Browser display when a file has been modified locally.
2 – Item Enhancements
Regarding Item Assignmentsin the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 software, since there is no longer an assignment wizard, the content and exercises in the Working with Items chapter in the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 Essentials training guide have been updated to reflect the new streamlined workflows. The new 2015 functionality of dragging and dropping CAD files into the Item Master to create Items is also covered in this chapter.
3 – Bill of Materials Enhancements
Regarding enhancements to BOM Configuration, the Working with Bills of Materials chapter in the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 Essentials training guide has been updated to show the new interface and associated procedures regarding new status icons and item numbering when viewing the BOM. This chapter also includes details on how you can filter which BOM rows are displayed in the 2015 software (All Rows, On Rows Only, or Off Rows Only) as controlled by the BOM Rows drop-down list.
4 – Working with AutoCAD Civil 3D Chapter Updates
Since the Civil 3D_Vault_configuration.cfg configuration file is not supplied with the 2015 software, we updated the Working with AutoCAD Civil 3D chapter’s content in the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 Essentials training guide and updated the exercise to use a vault with the Building configuration (template) file (AECVault.cfg) imported. The Civil 3D template is now included in the Building template provided with the 2015 software and included in the two other industry templates provided, Infrastructure (ENIVault.cfg) and Manufacturing (MFGVault.cfg).
5 - Revit Vault Add-In Enhancements
In the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 Essentials training guide, details on how to use the following new buttons on the Autodesk Revit Vault ribbon have been added:
- Import from Vault: Enables you to import CAD files or images stored in a vault into the current Revit project.
- Load Group: Enables you to load model groups, details groups, and attached detail groups from a Revit project in the Vault into the current project.
- Shared Parameters: Enables you to activate a shared parameters file.
In addition, content regarding Load Family improvements that have been implemented in 2015 and how metadata is now searchable in the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 software has been added.
6 – New Thin Client
In the Autodesk Vault Professional 2015 Essentials training guide, the 2014 chapter regarding Web Client has been renamed as Thin Client and completely updated to reflect the new Thin Client interface and workflows related to both Files and Items.
