With Autodesk changing their methodology from once a year to incremental updates I thought I would take a look and pick out two of my favorite ones from Autodesk Revit 2018.1 and 2018.2. Enjoy the new tools and get ready for even more updates coming in the New Year of 2018.
My favorite things…
- Lots and lots of new content for architecture and structure and fabrication content for MEP. In 2018.1 you can access many new families including windows with more details, appliances such as ovens and dryers, furniture systems (as shown below), as well as steel column shapes based on standards from around the world including South Africa, China, and Poland. Download these families from the Autodesk Help: What's New section.
Considering that my first job (the year which I will not divulge except to say it was pre-Revit!) included many rounds of adjusting system furniture, it is about time for Revit to have a useful set that includes materials.
- Project Browser right-click options. This isn’t something that is going to change the way you design but it will make life easier when you have lots of views with deep levels of hierarchy. You can now right-click at any level and expand or collapse all the level or just the one you have selected.
