Ever have a need to determine if you have enough space in your horizontal design for vehicles to turn?
If you are designing a road, intersection, traffic circle or a commercial site with a parking lot and have very narrow turning spaces or if you are trying to fit a service dock in an area where you are not sure if the trucks will be able to maneuver. Traditionally you would have used a template or a block of the different vehicle turning radius, and superimposed that onto your design.
What you need is a program that can simulate the trajectories of Cars, Trucks,Buses, etc.
One of the most commonly used program, is an awesome piece of software (so I am biased, because it started in my home town, by someone I knew) called AutoTURN created by Transoft Solutions. It is a commercial product with a price that varies depending on the type of license
Another program that looks promising is AutoPath by CGS
and if you have a low budget you may want to consider BricsTurn which is freeware or TURN.LSP which is open source
Hey Malcolm..... haha.... didnt know you were aware of our development (AutoTURN) good to hear from you. Milton C
