**Update: See the full video with audio here: 20 Tips in 20 Minutes**
This year at AU2009 I conducted a Inventor 20 tricks in 20 minutes presentation on the exhibit room floor. I figured I would post them here as well for those that wanted to see them again as well as my current readers that could not attend the show. I am going to break this down into four posts...Sketching, Parts, Assemblies, and Drawing Manager. Here are my next 5 tips involving sketching...
Tip 1: Line Tangent - when connecting a line that is intended to be tangent to a curve, click and hold on the circle rather than using a quick pick with the mouse.
Tip 2: Slot Creation - use the Gray dot when in the line command to create an Arc without leaving the command or using circles and trimming.
Tip 3: Removing Inference - when sketching hold Control to disable constraint inference while sketching; this allows more free form or precise geometry creation.
Tip 4: Linear Diameter - use the Centerline Type to get Linear Diameters for Revolves and to aid in the sketching process.
Tip 5: Profile Breaking - use Points to break overlapping profiles so correct profiles can be selected for features.
I hope you enjoyed these tips, sometimes even the little things you miss in training can make you much more productive, and for every tip that involves less mouse clicks you stave off the carpal tunnel syndrome yet another day!
