So where has Mark been the past week? Well, I have finally crawled from under the same warm blanket of Windows XP Professional and moved to Windows 7 Professional. Not only have I moved from XP to Win7, but I have also moved from 32 bit to 64 bit. That's right, no more 3 GB switch. I am fully enjoying the 64 bit environment of Windows 7 and actually using all of my RAM for my larger applications.
So I started putting in my normal utilities for Inventor (iLogic, Feature Rename, Feature Recognition, and the SDK add-ins), but I found the SDK was not 64 bit. So I laid out a straight out Google attack to find me an answer because I knew there was something about this when 64 bit Inventor was coming around. Sure enough I tracked over to the Autodesk website and grabbed this: Download UserTools
Essentially, these files replace the existing ones in the installation path and for Win7 and Vista users is located here: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2010\SDK.
When installation starts you may get an occasional message depending on your settings and it may prevent installation of your User or Developer tools. This is due to a newer Windows security system called the UAC or User Access Control and helps prevents unwanted programs from starting without your attention and approval. In Windows Vista there is either on or off, but in Windows 7 there are four settings. I have found this one below to be the most unobtrusive to my everyday work while still protecting the system.
While perhaps the most invasive of the two new settings to go along with off and complete redundant question asking it does sometimes need to be turned off completely in order to install some programs and the SDK kit is no exception. I had to turn this off in order to get my new 64 bit tools installed correctly.
In my next post we will take a look at some of the extra tools here in the SDK since I have used them for a long time, but never really sat down talked about them here.
I have just moved to an new workstation with 2013 PDS, and I am unable to install the user tools, it keeps crashing, telling me there is a problem with windows installer, would you happen to have a solution to this problem.
Cheers.

Give the new 2013 SDK kit a try it seems to have worked fine for me. The one in this post seemed to have to be used in earlier versions Inventor. As a disclaimer, make sure you have admin rights as well as the UAC and antivirus turned off before you try the new installer in the SDK folder.

Hi Mark,
How? do you modify the revision clouds "RADIUS" size. I am using Autodesk Inventor Suite 2012

I believe the SDK tool uses a best fit type of option for this.
