Problem: Drawing Shaded views show up with Specular Lighting effects when not desired.
Solution: Registry Key creation to control the Specular Color of Inventor files in the drawing environment.
- Launch Registry Editor (regedit)
- Browse to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER_--> Software--> Autodesk --> Inventor --> RegistryVersion16.0 --> Applets --> DrawingLayout
- Create a DWORD key called “Suppress Specular Color”
- Set the Value to anything other than 0
Resultant of registry change. Inventor must be restarted for this to take effect.
Note: Registry 16.0 is Inventor 2012 and 15.0 is 2011. This tip can be applied to Inventor 2010, but you need to have SP3 installed and also hotfix 15338178.
I am attempting to perform this same action for Inventor Professional 2014, however it is not reacting the way yours does. I have tried this directly in "DrawingLayout" as you suggested, and in "Preferences" as others have suggested which is one layer deeper. I have all the latest updates for the program. Do you have any further suggestions?

Inventor 2013 and 2014 changed the game on this so to speak when the change was made to Appearances rather than Color Styles. The individual color appearance now controls alot of what you are seeing in the Drawing Environment regardless of Specular lighting controls.
Here is a link to an ongoing thread on the issue...
