The Autodesk Inventor 2016 Home Page has introduced several new productivity tools that enhance the user experience. Here is a brief overview:
- The “New” panel in the upper left corner. If your organization uses company-specific templates, it’s advisable to copy and replace the standard Autodesk templates and to maintain the same standard names.
- Projects, Shortcuts, and File Details tabs in the upper right corner. The Projects tab lists all the configured Inventor project files (note that a best practice is for companies to use just one project file). The Shortcuts tab displays folders within a project that a user frequently navigates to. This is useful for project file users with limited or no listings under “Frequently Used Folders.” The File Details tab lists all the main iProperties associated with a selected file from Recent Documents panel. It also gives a thumbnail view of the file.
- The “Recent Documents” panel in the lower left. On the left side, users have access to filters that can be used to sort and display documents that are important to them. A dialog box displays icons for Reset Filters and Minimize Filter Panel.
- Features for Vault project users. These include a Vault Status column in list form and a small indicator in the lower right corner of the icon on other forms, indicating the Vault status of the file. A Refresh Vault Status icon is located above the panel.
