Inventor 2016 introduced a smoother method of placing views in to drawings. I posted on these changes last week so I thought I would continue with another tip today.
In previous versions of Inventor there was a button called Change View Orientation that you would select in the event that you were not getting Inventor to give you the view that you really want in your drawing. With the inclusion of the View Cube as part of the selection process in Inventor 2016, that button is no longer needed as much as it used to be.
The ability to do this is still there though in case your orientation you desire is not exactly where you want it to be or in case you want some artistic look for a literature document instead of a fabrication drawing. To get that same function now, all you have to do is right click on the corner of the cube that is facing you and select the Custom View Orientation selection. That will launch you into the environment you always used before that will allow precise view rotation, Look At commands, and anything else you need to get your orientation just right.
Check out the screencast here in case you are still having trouble locating this feature.
