After you have install your Network version of Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite 2012 you get several errors upon opening the software.
You will first get a message that "A valid license could not be obtained by the network license manager."
When you click the Close button another error message pops up stating "The software License check out failed. Error 20."
When clicking the OK button you will then get another error "License not obtained. Tried Mudbox 2012, error 20. License method: set by installer to 'network Lic. file override: environment variable MUDBOX_ALT_EN is not set.
This error is typically due to a bad license file but to make sure you are not missing anything you will need to do the following:
- Verify that the user machines User Account Control Settings (UAC) is turned off.
- Verify that you have the current LMTools installed on your Server and that its set up correctly. Visit my post on How to install or upgrade the Network license manager.
- Verify that your license file is correct. You can easily run it in the Autodesk License Parser to verify the information is correct or you can double click on the .lic file that Autodesk sent to you to open it in Note Pad. The first line in the license file will show the servers name and then the Ethernet address. If you are not sure where to find this information you can find it in your LMTools on the System Settings Tab.
example:
If your license file shows wrong or you are unsure you can submit for a new license file by emailing Autodesk at [email protected] You will need the following:
- Company name
- Server name
- Servers Ethernet address
- Serial number
