When you export your views from Revit, with any option, the phased elements do not export to an “EXST” layer.
In order for the elements to export with the layer name appended with –EXST you need to do two things after you have created your export setting.
How to create your custom export setup:
From the Application Menu select the following:
- Duplicate the Export Setup and name it appropriately
- Set the export properties on the tabs as needed.
- If you have a custom layer setting file use that, otherwise select one of the out of the box options
Step 1: Adding Modifiers:
We can add a modifier to the export dialog box for the items we want to adjust, make sure that you also do this to the sub-categories of the element also, and select the Phase Created modifier and add it to the list, in the separator space, add the separator type you want to use…this will give us
something similar to the following in the cad file: A-DOOR-Existing
Step 2: Rename the Phases
If we want the appended layer to read EXST rather than Existing you will need to rename the phase to match what you want the modified layers to read.
To rename the phase, go to the Manage Tab, Phasing panel, Phases and select the phase name you want to change and type in a new name.
Export the views using the export setup that we just finished creating.
Note:
Once the file is exported, you will still have some addition modifications to do most likely since the phase overrides (colors) do not transfer.
The easiest way to resolve this is to freeze all of the layers you don't need to change the color of and create a layer state for the phased items visible and change their colors in the layer state.
