Have you ever wanted that Block from another drawing. Perhaps a Layout from a file you receive. You could go through the throws on inserting a block and exploding or somke other long method. Here is a way to get this data quickly. There is a command called Design Center. You can drag and drop things from unopened files into the current file.To be exact you can pull in Blocks, Dimstyles, Layers, Layouts,Linetypes, Multileader styles, Table Styles, Text styles, and Xrefs. with a simple drag and drop.
How to launch the command
Command line - ADC
Pulldown - Tools->Palettes->Design center
Keyboard - CTRL+2
1.) When the Dialog opens you will see a window on the left and a window on the right.
2.) Using the left side navigate to the Drawing you would like to pull data from. The drawings act like folders expand them and then highlight the object type you want.
3.) Using the right side select and drag and drop yoru object into the new file.
You can now select drag and drop any of the object types from the Design Center screen into the current drawing. No need to go through all of the pains. this can be very nice when you have a corrupt file you are trying to reassemble.
