This one catches quite a few people. When you login to the subscription site, go to the downloads and select the option to "Install now", you may receive the following error.
Communication Failure
Download and installation has been interrupted by a lost connection between the Autodesk website and this computer. The most likely causes are:
- The installation package was moved from the installation location, which is not support.
- The Autodesk download website was closed or manually refreshed before the installer launched.
- A firewall has blocked the network ports.
Please address these issues if possible, return to the website, and then click again on Install Now, or use another download method: Download Now or Browser Download.
When you use this option it downloads that huge .exe file and extracts the files to c:\autodesk\another_folder_name, then it runs setup for you. If this process is stopped or interrupted you will get that message or if you try to manually run the setup later.
This method does *not* allow you to use the setup later, only during this session.
I believe the best download method is to use the "Download Now".
- It uses the Download Manager which is far more reliable and can be paused.
- Once you extract the files you can run the setup as many times as you'd like.
- Typically it's faster too!
- You need the original installation location to install service packs (or insert the DVD)
Once you download that huge file you can extract the install files to any location.
Note: the default is C:\Autodesk\Filename, where Filename is the same name as the large .exe fie you downloaded.
So to get past the Communication Failure error I'd recommend downloading it again using the "Download Now" option, download it and double click that .exe to extract all the files and it will run setup for you..
Note: you do have to download and install the Download manager before the installation begins.
That dialogue box comes up after I try and open it from the web browser download. What is the problem?

I recommend you use the "Download Now" option to download the software package, then run the setup from the folder it creates under c:\autodesk\.
That should get you past the problem.

Jeff,
What do you do when Autodesk has only provided the "Install Now" option? Such is the case with Simulation 360 Pro.

Jerry

Hi all,
I'm sorry, I was out on vacation for a bit there.
If you're not logged into the Subscription site and trying to download then you may not have any other option but to use the "install now". If you ARE logged into the Subscription site and on the downloads page AND you click the downarrow and do not have "Download Now", then I'd recommend you submit a support request to Autodesk to provide that or you can request they send you the physical media.
Best regards,

can you give me tthe link to download browser downlod on auto desk

Hi Abdo,
You need to login to www.autodesk.com/subscriptionlogin then go to the Downloads. I cannot provide a link. Also, the subscription manager for your company must give you permission within the subscription system to be able to download the software using the "Download Now" interface.
Have a great day!

Jeff

when i pause the download in download manager and resume it the next day it starts from first..
what is the reason?
Posted by: prasad prasannam | 04/01/2014 at 11:29 PM
Hi Prasad,
I'm guessing it could have to do with some scan being done on the system, but for an answer go ahead and submit a support request about it.
My question back to you is, why are you pausing it overnight and why not let it run and finish the download?

Hi John,
It may have something to do with that computer, try it from another one.
It is pretty finicky with firewalls, proxy servers, security settings, etc.

Autodesk Download Managers keeps failing saying "there is an error in network connection". I have tried the browser download. It will download but when you try to run any of the files it downloads, it says they are incomplete.
Have tried more than one machine - same thing happens.
Trying to download Autodesk Product Design Suite Premium ENglish 2014 Win 64

I have had to uninstall the download manager to get it to install properly so it would work on a few machines, but for the most part it's plug-n-play. The Browser download may need to download multiple files, if one of the files is not done downloading or is missing or in a different folder you will get that message.
I'd start by uninstalling the Download Manager (DLM), reboot, try downloading it again and let it install the DLM again and see if it works.
Best regards,
Jeff

trying to download trial 2016 and it stops on initializing, it does not go pass that, no errors
Posted by: eli | 06/06/2015 at 03:05 PM
HI Eli,
You may want to try the Virtual Agent to download it.
See our blog:
http://blogs.rand.com/support/2014/05/how-do-i-download-the-autodesk-software-if-im-not-on-subscription.html
If that doesn't work then you may have an ISP or firewall problem.
Have a great day!

Hi Varnim,
You may want to try the Virtual Agent to download it.

If that doesn't work then you may have an ISP or firewall problem. You may want to try going to an internet cafe somewhere and download it. Alternatively you can login to your subscription account and order the physical media.
Have a great weekend!
