We have 2 types of plotting in AutoCAD. Named Plot Styles and Color Dependent Plot Styles. Named Plot Styles require you to create a name for each type of Line weight, Overrride Color, etc. and Color Dependent is just assigning these options to certain colors and whenever that color is seen it uses these options. we have one or the other we do not mix these. So a file is either Name Dependent or Color Dependent. What happens if we have a situation where we used Color dependent and someone sends us a file that is Named Dependent or Drawing which is Name Dependent and we use Color Dependent. We can use a command called CONVERTPSTYLES to convert these files. this one command works for both.
Color Dependent Plot style drawings becomes Name Dependent
or
Name Dependent Plot Style drawings become Color Dependent
How to use CONVERTPSTYLES command
1.) type the command CONVERTPSTYLES and select the <Enter> Key
2.) A warning will be displayed select OK
Your current file has been converted to the opposite Plot style Method from the one you opened with.
Color Dependent Plot style becomes Name Dependent
or
Name Dependent Plot style drawing becomes Color Dependent
