This solution is for those who install their Autodesk 2016 software on their machine and get the following error message:
AutoCAD 2016 is not found on this computer. You will need to install AutoCAD 2016 to install this product specific pack.
Solutions:
- Verify that none of the Autodesk software that you are trying to install is listed in the installed software in the Control Panel > Programs and features. If they are in the list uninstall them and follow this blog on cleaning up the rest of what will remain on the machine. http://blogs.rand.com/support/2015/04/quick-guide-on-uninstalling-autodesk-software.html
- If there was nothing listed in your programs and features or you did remove the software from the list of installed programs you will still need to run this Microsoft fixit tool to verify the machines doesn't still see the software as being installed.
- Update the OS and video card. What you need to do before installing or reinstalling Autodesk software; http://blogs.rand.com/support/2015/04/what-you-need-to-1.html
- Have your IT personnel log into the machine as the local admin or have another user log into your machine to see if they can get the software to install. If they can this is an indicator that your Windows Profile is corrupt.
- Verify you have the correct permissions and that nothing is blocking you. Try to install the software in a diagnostics mode. http://blogs.rand.com/support/2014/03/how-to-perform-a-clean-diagnostics-mode-install-using-windows-xpvista-or-windows-78.html
- Last resort is to have IT re-image your machine.
