The Utilities for Revit 2016 in either stand alone or network versions are now available for purchase, or as a perk of being on subscription with us*, and they have a couple of new tools that you may find handy!
Dependent View Copy
Automate the creation of dependent views in your model, based on an example set. This utility handles view naming, crop regions, splits and more.
The "Source View" combobox shows existing plan views that contain dependent views. The "Target Views" shows all of the views where the dependents can be copied.
The utility deals with:
- naming of dependent views
- crop regions
- Splits (maximum of 1 in each direction)
If the utility is able to recognize the name of the "parent" view inside the name of the dependent view, then it will name the "target" dependent views similarly to their parent. If it is not able to find the parent view name, it will append the entire view name.
In the case where a named view with the target name already exists, the crop region and splits will be updated to match the corresponding source dependent view.
In the "Target Views" tree, the views will be colored and shown with an asterisk if the view already contains all of the named dependent views of the given source view.
Note: This functionality is available in a less fancy format in Revit natively by selecting on a parent view and then right click and select "Apply Dependent Views" and you can select the other view types you want to apply this to.
Adjust Pipe
Pipes in Revit can be finicky – if two segments are out of alignment by a tiny fraction of an inch – they cannot be joined together. This tool provides a wide variety of ways to adjust pipes so that they will trim together, and you can keep on piping
