Autodesk Inventor 2016 R2 is becoming available to subscription customers and includes some enhancements and new tools.
Download and Install:
In the Application Manager
The Inventor 2016 R2 build will install over the existing Inventor 2016 installation (build 138 without updates or with Update 1 or 2). It will update the build to 210.
Autodesk Accounts
You can download the R2 update through your Autodesk Accounts log in under the Product Updates
Here's what the Inventor 2016 R2 update adds:
Shape Generator-Generative Design
Shape Generator Stress Analysis type allows you to optimize your design by making it lighter weight while maximizing part stiffness.
Start with a reference shape that you use to refine your design to make it structurally efficient.
Reference shape as a guide-->Generative Design to optimize-->Promote Design to a mesh(or Stl)-->edit the solid model using the mesh as a guide-->Send back to Stress Analysis to optimize further.
Concept Engineering-ForceEffect
Force Effect is added to the sketch Ribbon or on the Add-Ins ribbon-Force Effect panel.
This opens the Force Affect Context ribbon in a new .afe or .afem file:
Determine design viability during concept phase
- Create free body diagrams for simulation/engineering calculations during concept design phase.
- Save the vector geometry and open it as a part/assembly skeleton sketch.
Static systems analysis available:
- Create joints (welded, pinned)
- Break element at joints
- Create supports (fixed, grounded, sliding)
- Create loads (known, unknown, variable distributed) and moments
- Add weight to individual elements
- Compute reaction forces and moments for equilibrium and over constrained systems
- Toggle forces to show force vector components
- Results reporting with picture, results, all equations
IDF workflow enhancements
(Available in Inventor Professional/Routed Systems only)
A new IDF Component Content Center Library installs in the default Content Center libraries folder
Enhanced support for IDF 2.0/3.0:
- New controls for importing design data
- New ability to publish to new IDF component content center library
- Reuse PCB components
