Starting with AutoCAD 2017 it's now much easier to change the license type from Trial to Stand Alone or to Network in the program.
When you install AutoCAD 2017 for the first time you are not prompted for the serial number, product key or license type until you run it for the first time.
Once you select a license type, you will be prompted for the serial number and product key.
If your license manager isn't updated yet, you can start using AutoCAD in trial mode that lasts a maximum of 30 days.
When you are ready to switch to network or standalone (desktop) license, the About command then Manage License shows the option to Change License Type.
If you happen to have a drawing open when you change license type, or your network license manager is offline or inaccessible, you will be prompted to save your work, if you need to.
When you re-start AutoCAD, you will again be prompted to select your license type.
You can also confirm the serial number and license manager server name from About then Manage License.
Click the > arrow to view the serial number and confirm the license server name.
Note the network license borrow option on the right side. This is the same as in earlier releases.
Note: When switching over to Industry Collections from the Suites (standalone) deployments, you can change the serial number by clicking the 'Update' link under License Details as shown.
Note: See this link for more details for switching from suites to collections:
