Sometimes it's the little things that we discover in Revit that make you smile.
I recently had someone ask me if there was a way to break the grid line so it didn't run through the model....and the answer is yes!
If you start with any of the out of the box templates, this grid type is already in your project....it's simply a matter of changing the grid type you are using.
There are three default types as shown below...1/4" Bubble is the default which does not have a gap...but there are two that do have a gap depending on your preferences.
The gap is defined in the type properties under Center Segment
If we look at the settings for the three different types you can see the various settings available
1/4" Bubble
The Center Segment is continuous...meaning there is no gap. The end segment pattern is also the continuous portion pattern.
1/4" Bubble Custom Gap
Notice that you can change the Center Segment, pen weight, color and linetype in addition to the standard options.
1/4" Bubble Gap
There is no Center Segment and you can define the default end lengths (printed length)
