After you have purchased your Autodesk Collaboration for Revit the next steps that you take are very crucial in your success.
- You will assign a hub to your Collaboration for Revit contract - This can only be done by the Subscription Contract Manager. This is very crucial that you setup the hub first.
- You will then assign users to the Collaboration contract - This can be done by the Subscription Contract Manager or the Software Coordinator.
IMPORTANT FACTS TO KNOW
- AS A CONTRACT MANAGER YOU WILL HAVE A SEAT AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGNED TO YOU. YOU MUST KEEP THAT ASSIGNED TO YOU UNTIL THE HUB HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO THE COLLABORATION FOR REVIT CONTRACT. IF YOU ASSIGN ALL THE SEATS OUT YOU WILL NOT SEE THE BIM 360 TEAM ICON TO START THE PROCESS BELOW.
- IF YOU CLICK ON THE BIM 360 TEAM'S "ACCESS NOW" UNDER BIM 360 TEAM AND "PURCHASED BY" IS NOT YOU, STOP. YOU CANNOT ASSIGN THE HUB IF YOU ARE NOT THE PERSON WHO IS LISTED IN THE PURCHASED BY COLUMN! FIND THIS PERSON AND GIVE THEM THESE STEPS.
Before you begin, verify the following:
- Verify you are the Subscription Contract Manager for your company.
- Not sure who is the Subscription Contract Manager? Read my blog on how to verify who is the Subscription Contract Manager.
- Verify all users in your office have an Autodesk account. Add them under "users".
- Here is how you will add the users as the Contract Manager or Software Coordinator Adding Users.
- Understand what a Team Hub is and how it associates people, projects and data.
- Verify users have Installed Collaboration for Revit. You can download your version of Collaboration for Revit Here.
HOW TO ASSIGN A COLLABORATION FOR REVIT CONTRACT TO A HUB
- As the contract admin you need to sign into the Autodesk Manage Accounts website.
IMPORTANT: As of right now only the Subscription Contract Manager can assign a Hub to a Collaboration for Revit contract.
- Make sure you have a seat of Collaboration for Revit assigned to you. As soon as the hub is created you can then unassign it from yourself and assign it to a user. This is just how Autodesk has set this up. Click on the user Icon > Click on Edit access next to your name. Scroll to Collaboration for Revit and check the check box so you have a seat and click Save.
- From your list of products click on Access Now under BIM 360 Team.
- You will be redirected to the A360 webpage.
- You will see your contract ID number, your A360 details, assigned date, purchased by and Hub. Notice that your Hub says "unassigned contract". To assign a hub click on the Contract ID number.
- Select on "Choose a hub".
- From the drop down select a hub name and click on the "Assign Contract" button.
- If there is no hub in the first option, click on "Don't have a hub?" and then click on "Sign up Now". This will assign a hub based off of your email address.
- Once it assigns a hub it its very important that you go back into the BIM 360 Team Access Now and from the first option "Choose a hub" and select the newly created hub name.
- Once you have selected your hub you will get a pop up verifying that you are assigning your contract to the specified hub. Make sure this is correct before you hit the "Confirm" button.

- From the Autodesk Manage Accounts page click on "Users".
- In the list of users click on the Edit Access link:
- Find Autodesk A360 Collaboration for Revit and put a check mark next to Assign.
POSSIBLE ISSUES:
What to do if Collaboration for Revit is grayed out and you cannot assign a user?
- This means that you have the seat assigned to yourself or (Contract Manager is automatically assigned to the seat) to a user who doesn't need it. You will need to go through each users "Edit Access" to find out who has it. There is no easy way to know who has the seats for a particular contract.
