Autodesk has updated the 41 page PDF version of the Autodesk Vault Upgrade Guide that includes the supported Microsoft SQL releases for each Autodesk Vault version. Below is a quick reference view of the SQL Server chart found on page 18 of the PDF.
Recently we have been asked if SQL 2012 SP3 can be used with Vault 2016 or 2017. But notice that Autodesk is still specifying SQL 2012 SP2 for both as being supported in production. What this means is that if you choose SP3 and encounter problems caused by SP3, then Autodesk will not troubleshoot the problem and ask that you revert to a supported version.
But the problem comes with several issues with SQL 2012 SP2. So what to do if you don't want to leave the supported version?
You can install all the available cumulative updates (CUs) for SP2. Currently that is CU 12 for SP2. As later updates become available and to check for earlier updates, you can use Microsoft's Update Center for Microsoft SQL Server to locate the download you need.
