Creating a GEOTiff in Civil 3D 2013
How can we create a GeoTiff in Civil 3D from one of our Surfaces
Select coordinate system you would like the Tiff exported as
1.) Go to the Toolspace
2.) Select the Settings tab
3.) Right click on the Drawing name
4.) select Edit Drawing Settings
5.) On the 1st tab Units and Zones select the coordinate system you would like this Tiff exported as (See Figure 1)
6.) select OK

Creating the GeoTiff
1.) On the Toolspace select the Prospector tab
2.) Expand the Surface header
3.) Right click on the Surface you would like to be a GeoTIFF (See Figure 2)
4.) Select Export to DEM
5.) The Export to DEM dialog is displayed
6.) under the export header select the Browse button to the right of DEM file name
7.) The browse dialog displays
8.) At the bottom under files of type select the drop down and select GeoTIFF (See Figure 3)
9.) Browse to the folder where you would like the new file
10.) Type in the name for the new file
11.) Select save
12.) select OK once back on the Export to DEM dialog box

Selected Surface
-Name: Name of the Surface you are exporting
-Description: Description of the Surface you are exporting (Surface description created when creating the Surface)
-Drawing Coordinate Zone: The Coordinate System of the Drawing file
Export
-DEM File Name: Name of the DEM\GeoTiff to be created
-Export Coordinate system: Coordinate system to export this file as
-Grid Spacing: The accuracy of the Surface you are exporting
-Determine Elevations by: How the export will determine the elevations
-Use custom null elevation: If an elevation is null what to do
-Null elevation: If use Null elevation is set to yes this will be the elevation for any Null points.
